Virtual Hosting Packages

Virtual Hosting, or shared server hosting, is web hosting on systems shared by multiple customers. This is an excellent alternative to a dedicated server account for customers with sites that are low traffic, or high traffic sites with minimal system requirements.

Like our dedicated server offerings, all of Central Host's virtual hosting packages are load balanced. Each virtual hosting account comes with two virtual web servers on diverse systems to ensure maximum availability of your web site. Standard features of virtual hosting accounts are two load balanced virtual web servers, two load balanced virtual ftp servers, pop3/imap/smtp mail services, DNS services, domain name registration, 24x7 monitoring, telnet/ftp/ssh access to virtual hosting accounts, and email/phone technical support.

Also the servers we use to provide virtual hosting services are identical to those used in the dedicated server packages, so when your site outgrows the shared server your site can be moved to a more powerful dedicated server with zero technical difficulties.

We currently offer two web hosting plans, a "basic" plan and a "volume" plan. Each plan has identical standard features, but pricing for bandwidth and storage varies. The basic plan is a good way to get started if you don't know how much bandwidth and storage you require, or you know that your bandwidth requirements are minimal (less than 10GB a monthly transfer or 256Kbps). The volume plan offers heavily discounted bandwidth pricing for high volume sites (transferring more than 100GB a month). To any plan you can add a number of additional features (such as an https secure server or JSP/Servlet support) at the listed costs.
